May brought some exciting changes to The Reporter. As of May 1, Patrick Graham, a Huntsville native, became owner of The Sand Mountain Reporter. Graham was the associate publisher at The Reporter from 2000 to 2003, so he will be a familiar face to many of you.

In the coming weeks, you will notice some changes, but our commitment to publishing a quality newspaper is, and will continue to be, our focus. I want to thank our subscribers and advertisers for their support and ask for your continued support. We are consistently looking for ways to improve our newspaper, and now we are asking for your feedback.

What do you enjoy about our paper? Where do we need to improve? Please take the time to answer the questions and return them to me, by mail (1603 Progress Drive, Albertville, AL 35950), in person or by email ( We will randomly select a participant to receive a free three-month subscription as our way of saying thank you.

What about a regular section devoted to the creativity of readers? It could be an original poem, short story or art work. Devote a half a page to it if necessary. Pay them like ten bucks or something. I've got a few things I'd submit. I'm sure there are plenty of others out there that would also.
