Bowling alley catches on fire

Published December 25, 2003

The Guntersville Bowling Center on U.S. Highway 431 between Albertville and Guntersville received massive damage in a fire Monday afternoon.

Guntersville Fire Department recieved a call around 12:44 p.m.

When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames visible from the rear of the building coming from one of the units, which is where fire officials believe the fire began, said Guntersville Fire Chief Rick Bearden in a published report.

According to owner Judy Rhea, the Bowling Center was closed, and there was no one in the building when the fire began.

There was significant smoke damage as a black cloud poured from the building when firefighters responded.

They were assisted by units and emergency management, rescue squad personnel from Boaz, Albertville and Arab as well as the county ambulance service.
