The Bears, who have reached the state playoffs for an amazing 19 years in a row, are competing in Class 4A for the first time.

Josh Walker is the Eagles’ leading rusher with 157 yards on 18 carries and two TDs.
Christian Sims has 88 yards on 18 attempts while B.J. Allen has gained 76 yards on 13 carries.
Eric Paul’s six receptions for 92 yards and two scores pace Douglas. Cody Hill has four catches for 26 yards.
CLASS 4A, REGION 7
Columbia (0-2, 0-1) at Guntersville (1-1, 1-0)
Kickoff: Friday, 7 p.m.
Coaches: Sam McCorkle, Columbia; Phil Isom, Guntersville
Last week: Plainview 42, Columbia 14; Guntersville 30, DAR 7
Last meeting: The Eagles and Wildcats have never played.
McCorkle, a former head coach at West Alabama, didn’t get the Columbia job until July.
The Eagles, who are playing their third varsity season, won five games last fall but have been outscored 99-27 this season.
Quarterback Holt Claiborne and running back Tori Hereford, a Butler transfer, are key players for Columbia.
Guntersville discovered its offensive rhythm last week against DAR, rolling up 362 yards behind the quarterback platoon of Corey Cahill and Chris Daniel.
Cahill threw one TD pass and caught another.
Cahill leads the Wildcats in rushing with 177 yards on 24 carries. Tucker Bridges has nine receptions for 116 yards and two TDs.
Ben Samuels tops Wildcat defenders with 18 tackles.
GHS has outscored its opponents 24-0 in the first half this season.
CLASS 3A, REGION 6
Sylvania (1-1, 1-0) at No. 7 Sardis (2-0, 1-0)
Kickoff: Friday, 7 p.m.
Coaches: Alan Clayton, Sylvania; Chris Garmon, Sardis
Last week: Sylvania 39, Crossville 7; Sardis 31, New Hope 21
Last meeting: 2007, Sardis 27, Sylvania 9
The Lions are 2-0 for the first time since 1988, when they finished 10-0 in the regular season.
Sardis also won its region opener for the first time since the AHSAA adopted the format in 2000.
Entering the season, Sylvania was considered a contender for the Region 6 title. The Rams played like a contender last week, rushing for 387 yards against Crossville.
Heath Shankles carried 14 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns while Logan Jones gained 109 yards on 10 carries and scored two TDs.
Mark Patterson added 92 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries.
Sylvania scored 27 first-quarter points against Crossville.
Sardis can’t afford to allow the Rams another fast start. The Lions’ offense must also be more productive in the first half, as it scored only 13 first-half points against New Hope and seven in the opening 24 minutes against Gaston.
Sardis held firm at No. 7 in the 3A poll this week. All six teams in front of the Lions are also undefeated.
CLASS 3A, REGION 6
Holly Pond (1-1, 0-1) at Crossville (0-2, 0-1)
Kickoff: Friday, 7 p.m.
Coaches: Steve Miller, Holly Pond; Keith Garner, Crossville
Last week: Susan Moore 33, Holly Pond 20; Sylvania 39, Crossville 7
Last meeting: 1997, Crossville 31, Holly Pond 0
Both Crossville and Holly Pond hope to avoid starting 0-2 in region play.
The Lions must continue to improve on both sides of the ball.
Crossville has been outscored 75-22 in two games, and its defense is allowing an average of more than 360 yards on the ground.
Holly Pond rushed for 193 yards against Susan Moore. Key players for the Broncos include quarterback Wesley Cook, Chris Cahoon and Adam Pitts.
On the season, CHS quarterback Nick Davis is 27-of-58 passing for 197 yards. Brock Wood leads the Lions with seven receptions for 60 yards.
Colton Mayes has rushed 12 times for 56 yards and scored all three CHS touchdowns.
Dating back to last season, the Lions have dropped four games in a row.
