Higgins nets 24 as Lady Pirates roll

Peyton Higgins pumped in 24 points and made four assists to propel Boaz’s varsity girls to a 68-50 victory over Scottsboro on Tuesday in the Lady Pirates’ home opener.

Boaz, 2-0, will play host to DAR tonight.

Hannah Liverett contributed 12 points and seven rebounds while Taylor Douglas had 10 points and six assists for the Lady Pirates on Tuesday.

Kirsten Croghan finished with nine points and seven rebounds. Jacie Scott scored eight and Bethany Rohlfs five.

The Lady Pirates built an 18-6 advantage at the first break. They led 35-24 and 54-39 at the other breaks.

Junior varsity girls

Boaz 38, Scottsboro 6: The Lady Pirates led 11-0, 13-3 and 26-6 at the rest stops Tuesday as they posted their first win of the season.

Callie Rogers’ nine points paced Boaz. Kyla Holland netted eight.

Shelby Thomason scored five and Brenna Mitchell, Jenna Ferguson and Katie Osborn three each. Scarlett Crews, Breanna Sims and Breanna Pounds all had two and Leslie Jenkins one.

Arab 37, Boaz 35: Boaz lost its opener at Arab on Friday.

Osborn tossed in 13 points to top Boaz’s scorers.

Holland scored eight, Rogers seven, Crews four and Ferguson three.
