Robert J. Exley is the chancellor's choice to be the next president of Snead State Community College.
Exley, former president of Parkland College in Champaign, Ill., was announced as the pick of Chancellor Bradley Byrne this afternoon. The selection is pending state school board approval on Nov. 8.
"Dr. Exley has all the right qualities that we need in our system, and I think he will be an excellent fit for Snead," Byrne said in a statement.
Byrne chose Exley over finalists Snead State Vice President Allen B. Champion and Cleveland (Tenn.) State Community College Vice President Charles Hurley.
The recommendation concludes the third presidential search since Devin Stephenson resigned as president in late 2005. Lavell Thrasher has served as interim president since Jan. 1, 2006. --- For more information, see sandmountainreporter.com tonight and read The Reporter on Thursday.
