Eagles post 12th win

DOUGLAS — Kyle Chamblee led a trio of Douglas players in double figures as the Eagles dispatched Ashville 69-56 Friday night at Loyd Berry Gym.

The Eagles improved to 12-1 overall and 2-0 in the boys Class 4A, Area 11 standings.

Chamblee netted 14 of his game-high 19 points in the first quarter, which ended with Douglas in front 17-12.

“Kyle came out hitting the offensive boards and knocking down shots,” said DHS head coach Anthony Stapler. “He played a great first quarter.”

The Eagles stretched their margin to 37-24 at the half. They led 50-36 after three periods.

Both David Kilgo and Brandon Brothers scored 11 for Douglas.

Zack Jones tossed in seven and Adam Bright, Tyler McMurtrey and Matt Caughman six apiece.

Skylar Baugh added two and Zach Whitehead one for DHS.

Chamblee collected seven rebounds and four assists. Caughman had six boards, Bright five assists and Brothers three assists.

Ashville’s top scorer was Demarcus Jones with 15.

Douglas will play host to archrival Boaz tonight in a 4A, Area 11 contest.
