GUNTERSVILLE — The Marshall County Commission is studying an agreement with AT&T to provide video programming to unincorporated areas of the county where AT&T has service.
Commissioners briefly discussed the topic during a work session Thursday.
Albertville and Guntersville have already inked agreements with the telecommunications company and Boaz is considering one, said an AT&T official.
A time frame on when the service will be offered is not available, the official added.
Any agreement will not affect much of the area around Arab, which does not have AT&T service.
Officials said the service, called U-verse, gives residents an alternative to cable TV.
County Administrator Nancy Wilson said the contract is expected to be on the agenda of Monday’s regular commission meeting.
In other business discussed Thursday:
• Commission Chairman Douglas D. Fleming intends to ask the Revenue Commissioner’s Office to pay a $2,812.50 legal bill to attorney Wade Wright for services provided in the case of Marshall County v. Karen Saint. The case involved the mistaken sale of property, officials said.
• The Commission is reviewing a $1,400 annual lease agreement with JD&L Enterprises to store the boat used to appraise property on the lake.
• Commissioners are likely to approve the preliminary plat for Asbury Ridge subdivision at the intersection of Baker and Brothers roads.
• Sahra Lyons, of the Emergency Management Agency, asked the Commission to proclaim September National Preparedness Month.
