Three Snead State Community College cheerleaders will share their talents with the University of Alabama beginning this fall.
Justin McMullins and Zach Sibert, both of Geraldine, and Dexter Shell of Oneonta were selected to join cheerleading squads at UA.
McMullins and Sibert will cheer with the varsity squad during all of the football games and other events. Shell was selected to the junior varsity squad, which cheers at the home football games, the women’s basketball games and other functions.
“I enjoyed working with all of these guys. They were an asset to Snead State, and I’m glad they will continue to use their skills as they continue their education,” said Snead State cheer coach Adam Rhoden, a former Alabama cheerleader.
The Snead State cheerleaders capped the 2005-06 year by placing third at the Universal Cheerleading Association’s National Competition in Orlando, Fla.
“Cheerleaders play an important role in promoting school spirit and providing support for our athletic teams,” said Snead State Vice President Dr. Allen B. Champion.
“I wish Justin, Zach and Dexter the best of luck as they move on, but I know their experiences at Snead State will serve as strong reminders of what they can achieve with hard work and commitment.”
