Boaz explodes for 30 points in fourth period

The Boaz Lady Pirates outscored Ashville 30-9 in the fourth quarter to post a 71-52 victory Tuesday night in their final Class 4A, Area 11 game of the regular season.

BHS finished 3-3 in the area standings. Tonya Littleton’s squad is 13-8 overall.

The Lady Pirates led 20-11 after a quarter, but trailed 32-30 and 43-41 at the other breaks.

Sara McKnight torched the nets for 16 points in the fourth quarter, leading Boaz’s explosive finish.

McKnight totaled 19 points, including four 3-pointers. Erin Clark scored 12 and Chelsea O’Brien 11.

Megan Adams had six points and seven rebounds. Both Laura Leeth and Caitlin Whitt netted six points.

Amanda Cochran scored three and Leslie Cornutt, Amanda Gilliland, Meagan Miller and Karah Sims two each for BHS.
