Alabama had been ranked second since the 41-31 victory at then-No. 3 Georgia on Sept. 27.
The Crimson Tide held on to the No. 2 ranking – its highest since the 1992 national championship – after a 17-14 victory over Kentucky on Oct. 4. The Tide was idle Saturday.
Alabama (6-0, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) will play host to unranked Ole Miss (3-3, 1-2) on Saturday. CBS will televise the game nationally at 2:30 p.m.
Alabama is the SEC’s last remaining unbeaten team after LSU lost at Florida and Vanderbilt tumbled at Mississippi State.
