Dixon pleased with camp

The 2009 Boaz High School Baseball Camp took place May 27-28 at Pirate Park.
More than 50 campers and staff members participated in the annual summer event.
The young campers learned the fundamentals of baseball, including defense and offense.
Each camper received individual and group instruction in batting, bunting and base running. The players also received specific instruction at their chosen positions.
Special emphasis was given to advanced instruction in middle infield play, catching skills and pitching skills.
The camp was staffed by current and former Boaz players and directed by Boaz head coach Nick Dixon.
The campers who attended were Austin Young, McKane Holland, Blake Young, Walt Williams, Kaitlyn Williams, Will Cleghorn, Lucas Smith, Ethan Smith, Jake Smith, Hunter Porch, Andrew Burns, Caleb Moon, Colin Brooks, James Patton, Tristan Burns, Taylor Burns, Jacob Smith, Mathew Smith, Jordan Guice, Dalton Moore, Ryan King, Brody Rickles, Malia Jones, DJ Jones, Zach Neisler, Drake Bishop, Austin Phillips, Carson Chamblee, Zach Pankey, Tyler Dugan, Logan Bailey, Kaleb Harvey, Joey Tidwell, Blake Lemaster, Brooke Lemaster, Carlton Peppers, Jesse Fitzgerald, Garrett Bright and Trey Willoughby.
The staff members were Logan Remson, Blake Douglas, Daniel Gaither, Jonathan Nixon, Amos Abbott, Brett Willoughby, Tyler Musick, Dallas Gibson, Kody Burttram, Zack Willoughby, Ethan Davis, Blake Truett, Corbin Battles, Casey Wiggins, Kyle Overstreet, Joel Dixon, Boaz assistant coach Josh Moon and Boaz assistant coach Jeff Overstreet.
“I would like to thank every boy and girl that we had attend,” Nick Dixon said.
“They were a great group of kids that are really eager to learn. They did a great job in the drills and instruction periods.
“I also thank the staff members that donated their time and energy to make this camp a success. I especially thank two of our former players that are now college players, Blake Douglas and Logan Remson.
“Their dedication to the game of baseball and Boaz High baseball is recognized and appreciated.
“We are also proud of the way they are representing us at the college ranks. Both of them had outstanding seasons at Calhoun Community College.”
