Johnson takes charge at CHS

New Crossville head volleyball coach Ariel Johnson talks to her team during a match in the Guntersville Munciana Team Camp in July at Supreme Courts in Guntersville. Johnson took over the program in June after serving a stint as assistant coach. She inherited a squad that finished as the Class 5A, Area 13 Tournament runner-up and advanced to the North Super Regional in 2018. The Lions started preseason practice Monday, and they launch the Johnson era by hosting Brindlee Mountain and Plainview in a tri-match Aug. 22 at 4 p.m.
