The Class 4A, No. 5 Sardis softball team shut out Plainview 6-0 Tuesday afternoon at Rainsville.

Lion pitchers Bethany Chamblee and Mackenzie Sarratt combined to keep the Bears off the scoreboard.

Chamblee hurled six innings to record the win. She allowed six hits.

Sarratt tossed an inning, allowing one hit.

Kameron Carter paced the Lions (25-9-2) with three hits. Chamblee and Madelyn Gazaway both had two hits.

Krista Hubbard slugged a home run for Sardis. Payton Golden and Kacee Mashburn each added one hit.

The Lions play host to 4A, No. 3 Cherokee County on Thursday.

Sardis 9, Susan Moore 1

Hubbard finished with three hits to propel the Lions past Susan Moore on Monday.

Golden, Jadie Fobbus and Chamblee all contributed two hits. Carter, Bailey White and Devin Holsonback all collected one hit.

Chamblee and Gazaway combined to pitch a three-hitter.

Chamblee allowed one hit and no runs. Gazaway yielded two hits and a run.

Etowah County Tournament

Sardis will play host to the 2013 Etowah County Softball Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

The format is single-elimination. The schedule is:

• Sardis vs. Gaston, quarterfinals, Friday, 1:45 p.m.

• Hokes Bluff vs. West End, quarterfinals, Friday, 3:30 p.m.

• Southside vs. Sardis/Gaston winner, semifinals, Friday, 5:15 p.m.

• Glencoe vs. Hokes Bluff/West End winner, semifinals, Friday, 7 p.m.

• Championship game, Saturday, 3 p.m.
