The Class 4A, No. 5 Sardis softball team secured a huge road victory Tuesday, shutting out 4A, No. 3 Cherokee County 3-0.

Bethany Chamblee hurled the shutout for the Lions (22-9-2). She limited the Warriors to four hits.

Krista Hubbard powered Sardis’ offense with three hits.

Payton Golden collected two hits, and both Jadie Fobbus and Devin Holsonback one.

“It was a great team win,” said Sardis head coach Mary Beth Gilliland. “I couldn’t be more proud to coach such a great group of girls.”

Guntersville 2

The Lions improved to 4-0 in the Class 4A, Area 12 standings by whipping the Wildcats on Monday at Guntersville.

Hubbard and Chamblee each contributed three hits to Sardis’ 15-hit attack.

Golden, Bailey White and Kameron Carter all had two hits. Madelyn Gazaway, Mackenzie Sarratt and Kacee Mashburn collected one apiece.

Chamblee was the winning pitcher. Gazaway worked an inning in relief.
