Aggies take second

The Albertville seventh-grade boys finished as the runner-up in their division of the Marshall County Middle School Tournament. The Albertville Aggie seventh-grade boys basketball team entered the Marshall County Middle School Tournament as a No. 5 seed but made it to the championship game before falling to Guntersville 38-27.

The Aggies whipped No. 4 seed Douglas 50-21 in the first round and then upset undefeated top seed Arab 33-31 in the semifinals.

Phillip James coached the Aggies.

Albertville-Douglas

The Aggies led 13-9, 23-15 and 35-20 at the quarter breaks.

Chase Haney paced the Aggies with 15 points.

Brandon James, Hayden Peek, Dawson Green, Jess Hardin and Isaac Henderson all had five. Will Scott contributed four and Luke Powell, Hayden Howard and Tillman Plunkett all two.

Albertville-Arab

Albertville was in front 11-2, 19-7 and 20-17 at the rest stops in its upset of the Knights.

Henderson’s 11 points topped the Aggies.

Peek scored nine, Haney five, Hardin three, Green and Howard both two and Powell one.

Guntersville-Albertville

The Wildcats led 13-7, 20-17 and 36-23 at the breaks in Monday night’s championship game at Albertville High School’s gymnasium.

For the Aggies, Henderson and Green both netted six and Peek five while Haney, Scott, James, Powell and Howard all tossed in two.
