The Boaz varsity girls basketball team picked up two wins during their 2019 Boaz Thanksgiving Classic.

On Nov. 25, the Lady Pirates whipped New Hope 46-29. They led 6-2, 20-7 and 36-18 at the quarter breaks.

Lilly Beth Morrison and Taylor Rutledge scored nine each to propel Boaz’s offense. Savannah Wood tossed in eight while Katie Long and Camille Ford had six each.

Emily McDuffie contributed three, Maleah Collins and Madelyn Droze two each and Gracie Duncan one.

New Hope’s Lauren Busbey scored a game-best 11.

On Nov. 26, the Lady Pirates pulled away in the second half to pound Madison County 46-22.

The contest was tied 4-4 after a quarter. The Lady Pirates led 19-15 at the half and stretched it to 33-18 at the final rest stop.

Boaz put three players in double figures — Rutledge with 12, McDuffie with 10 and Morrison with 10. Droze and Wood netted four each and Duncan, Long and Ford all two.

Lainey Yearta’s eight points topped the Tigers.
