Eastern Arizona College sophomore defensive end Micah Stallworth, a former Albertville star, was selected both the NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week and the Western States Football League Defensive Player of the Week.

Stallworth had 10 tackles (seven solo) with five sacks in the No. 12 Monsters’ 42-10 win at Phoenix on Oct. 6. He also deflected a pass and had two quarterback hurries.

Stallworth now ranks third in the nation with 9.5 sacks on the season.

Eastern is 3-0 in the WSFL and 5-1 overall. The Monsters host Scottsdale (1-2 WSFL, 4-2 overall) on Saturday night in Thatcher, Arizona.

Stallworth was voted the defensive most valuable player on the All-Marshall County team following his senior season for the Aggies in 2015. He shared the defensive MVP award on the Class 6A, All-Region 7 squad.

As a senior, Stallworth recorded 159 tackles, including 117 solo stops. He made 13 tackles for a loss, forced a fumble and returned a fumble for a touchdown. He was also a team captain.
