Makisha Davis Chapman, 19, of Scottsboro, died Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Huntsville Hospital. Services were Saturday, May 28 at Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Bill Venable and Earnest Corbitt officiating. Burial followed in Rainsville Memorial Park. She was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Shawn Chapman of Scottsboro; son, Aiden Chapman of Scottsboro; father, Eddie Davis of Section; brothers Dakota Baer of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. and Dwayne Davis of Section; sister, Courtney Davis of Section; and grandmother, Sarah Davis of Section. She was preceded in death by her mother, Brenda Baer; and her grandparents, Howard and Betty Fay Pyburn. Cofield Charlsie Ola Kilpatrick Cofield, 88, of Boaz, died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Beverly Health Care Center. Services were Sunday, May 29, at Second Baptist Church, Boaz, with the Rev. Jimmy Harrison and life-long friend, W. H. Hayes, officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Boaz. Boaz Carr Funeral Home directed. A native of Boaz and charter member of the Second Baptist Church of Boaz, she was a member of the Willing Workers’ Sunday School class and the Women’s Wednesday Morning Prayer Group. She was the Sunshine Club’s Woman of the Year. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and John Coby Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Melanie Cofield and David and Roxanne Cofield; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Polly Kilpatrick; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, C. W. Cofield; special daughter of 66 years, Barbara Cofield; mother and father, Joe and Ola Kilpatrick; brothers, Herman, Arbie, James David, Veston and E. C. Kilpatrick; and sisters, Luna Ingram, Ruby Gilbreath and Willie Joe Williams. Pallbearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons. The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to the Second Baptist Church, 307 McVille Road, Boaz. Crosson Nettie Jane Kelly Crosson, 74, of Albertville, died Friday, May 27, 2005, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Services were Monday, May 30, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Memory Hill Cemetery. The Revs. Keith Williams and Bobby Bright officiated. Adams Brown Service Funeral Home directed. Survivors include her husband, Mac Crosson of Albertville; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Shelia Gilliland of Albertville; brother, Johnnie Pherson of Virginia; sister-in-law, Barbara Kelly of Parrish; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lacy and Fetnah Rutledge Kelly; and a brother, Banky Kelly. Pallbearers were Jason Weinbel, Jason Shell, Karl Doerzapf, Johnny Shell, Harris Wilks and Jack Crosson. Honorary pallbearer was Hunter Weinbel. Gillespie Jeannine Maurice Gillespie, 41, of Boaz, died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Services will be Wednesday, June 1, at 2 p.m., at Boaz Carr Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Wayne Scott will officiate. Boaz Carr Funeral Home will direct. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Boaz. Survivors include a daughter, Katherine Gillespie of Boaz; mother, Helen Gillespie of Boaz; and brother, Robert Gillespie of Boaz. Pallbearers will be Jim Gunter, Joe Hunt, Robert Smith, Tim Gillespie, James Lambert and Bruce Sandford. The family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Boaz or the charity of your choice. Nix Margie Marie Helton Nix, 75, of Section, died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at her home. Services were Monday, May 30, at Wilson Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Shirley Byrum and Mark Haynes officiating. Burial followed at Old Sardis Cemetery with Wilson Funeral Chapel directing. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Nix of Section; daughter, Carol Nix Wright of Section; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son, Rickey Nix; parents, John and Linney Helton; brother, J. L. Helton; and sister, Dicey Culpepper. Hudson Sherman Joseph Hudson, 94, of the Hudson Hollow community, died Sunday, May 29, 2005, at his residence. Crypt-side services will be today, Tuesday, May 31, at 11 a.m., at Hudson Mausoleum in Hudson and Fox Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Posey officiating. Viewing was Monday night, May 30, 6-9 p.m., at the funeral home. Village Chapel Funeral Home will direct. Born Aug. 20, 1910, in Blount County, he was a resident of Etowah County most of his life. He was a charter member of Carlisle Church of God and was retired from LTV Steel after 45 years. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and J. B. Kelley of Attalla; Martha and Donald Biesecker of Decatur; Kay and Lawayne Brooks of Boaz; Fay Johnston of Rockledge; and Brenda and Thomas English of Southside; sons and daughters-in-law, Edward Hudson of Albany, Ga.. Horace Hudson of Jacksonville, John and Imogene Martin Hudson of Rainsville, Willard and Jean Maltbie Hudson of Hudson Hollow, and Claudie and Martha Fox Hudson of Hudson Hollow; 35 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lottie McRae Hudson; father, Joseph Sherman Hudson; mother, Braddy Fortenberry; step-father, J. W. Fortenberry; sister, Jewell Byrd; brothers, William Riley Hudson, J. C. and Homer Fortenberry; three younger siblings; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Bill Hudson, Robert Blaker, Horace Hudson Jr., Clay Johnston, Joe Kelley, Foster Hudson, Richard McKinney, James Brooks and Tollie Hudson. Honorary pallbearers will be T. C. Simmons, and the Rev. Jesse D. Turner. Reece Margaret Joan Reece, 84, of Guntersville, died Friday, May 27, 2005, at the residence of her daughter. Memorial services were Sunday, May 29, at Carr Chapel in the Pines in Guntersville. Survivors include her children, Susan and Terence Elliot and Paul and Tina Reece, all of Middlesex, England, and Jane Hulsey of Guntersville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Elizabeth Wilkinson of Dorset, England. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Reece. Sampson Murmon Sampson, 73, of Albertville, died Friday, May 27, 2005. Services were Sunday, May 29, at Albertville Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Lang-Sampson Cemetery. The Rev. Kevin Painter officiated and Josh West was the soloist. Albertville Funeral Home directed. A brick mason, he was a veteran of the U. S. Army and the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Rena Sampson; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Tammie Sampson, Kelly and Amy Sampson, and Al and Amy Sampson; daughter, Tammy Noblitt; eight grandchildren; five brothers; and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryant and Viola Sampson; and a brother, George Sampson.
