I saw this post from 1/18 "• Marshall County Board of Education, District 2 - incumbent Edward Wright, Vince Edmonds and Pelmer Saint, all of Grant.

Doesn't Edmonds work as principal in Madison County. Why not just apply for a job here and then run for office here."

People have asked that question and Edmonds has responded. Here is the REAL story

". It seems that most people see my educational background as a big positive regardless of my experience being in a different school system. However, I am more than happy to respond. I am encouraged that people are asking questions. I think that electing school board members is a serious business. In my view, voters are deciding who to entrust their children’s education with and who will do the best job with maximizing our resources so that students are most benefited. I did not plan to be an educator. I worked over a decade in the mental health field. It was only after the Columbine tragedy and other school tragedies that some of the larger schools started recruiting counselors with clinical backgrounds. At the time, I was teaching part-time for Athens State University and found that I enjoyed the educational environment. So, when a position opened at Hazel Green High School and I learned that they were interested in a clinical counselor, I applied and was offered the job. Although I enjoyed working in the mental health field, I knew that I found where I wanted to be in the school setting. I probably would have remained a counselor had it not been for many people encouraging me to consider school administration. I earned my school administration certification and applied when the first administrative position at Hazel Green came open. A couple of years later I transferred to New Hope because it was close to my home in Grant. There have been some administrative positions to come open in Marshall County since I earned my certification and doctorate degree; however, I did not apply for those positions. Since I am a Marshall County boy, I always wanted to be a part of the Marshall County school system. My decision not to apply in Marshall County mostly had to do with my determination to clearly earn whatever position I occupied. I had a family member who was the superintendent of Marshall County schools, and I did not want politics to be involved with me getting a job or even the appearance that politics had anything to do with me getting a job. I felt more comfortable remaining in the Madison County school system where I clearly made my own way. Now, as I am closing in on retirement from the Madison County school system, I thought now would be a good time to be serve the Marshall County school system. I strongly believe that the bottom line is that I have the educational experience to benefit the students and schools of Marshall County. "

PLEASE if you have questions like this, contact the candidates and allow them to answer you!

YOU GOT IT BONNIEBLUE !!!! GOT IT RIGHT ON THE MONEY!!!!! I mean if any half decent reporter were to collect Hawks cases and the words and statements he spewed out during trials, you would find that Hawk will rant about things that have no revelance to the case or even Marshall county. HE WILL go off about stuff that doesn't make sense. THE GUY has known for at least two or three years he was switching parties. I mean there is almosts too much to list abotu the guy. Which means that basically he hasn't been reported on by the media. But by golly he will complain about Foxnews all day long and other counties and how he is overworked. I mean give me a break. How dare this guy complain. He ran for the position. HE FOUGHT FOR THE POSITION! HE wanted to be the family court judge. WANTED IT !!! Then he gets there and whines about it. They should call him EL Blanco, cuz nothing happened during his time. Just a blank space, as though it never happened. A 140k a year for this guy?

Hawk is the WORSE Judge ever....I have been before him many times during divorce and custody battles and he does stare at the ceiling like a nut and Gullahorn writes all his ruling whenever he appears before him. He has ruined coutless children's lives including my own. Not making dead beat fathers accountable is his speciality

I saw Billy Jack, nice reference TheWatcher (showing your age huh?). I have been down the nursing home trail, twice I did the paper work for someone I loved. The care for a dementia patient is almost 400 dollars a day, (if you want to call it care). I hope people understand that dementia is becoming an epidemic and if we do not support a health care system that will put the patient first, it’s all for not. If the American people do not understand what is at stake here, I am at a loss. I will pay more attention to your posts TheWatcher.

Oh, and speaking of seperate. I mean it is a whole new kind of segregation. Segregation of those without power. We have allowed our whole nation to become a Wal-mart based economy. If you travel 431 north and south, how many of those jobs along that busy stretch of road or not minimum wage jobs?

Segregation: not by race, but by those who have and those who can't get beyond a wage with a definate ceiling. Segregation of the haves and have nots.

I soon expect I will go into a Burger King and attempt to use the restroom and be approached by the manager and asked " are those Payless shoes you are wearing?" "Me? Why yes they are." Manager: "sir, you will have to use the restroom out back behind the dumpster." Then an 18 year old driving a hummer will come in an pour ketchup on my head and call me a name like " paylessor" and "Wal-mart lover" then begin to mock me. Which, I then turn to him with frustration, yet very calm and tell him, "i'm going to take my right foot, and I'm gonna womp you on the right side of your face." Further explaining there is nothing he can do about it.
That was a little reference to Billy jack there for ya.

Buffalo, you mentioned that 31 percent were below the poverty line; I think (if I remember correctly) 21 percent of Alabamians are on Disability. Wihich is fine, the workforce I'm aware of is unsafe and I am surprized that more aren't . Also, 84 percent of people in nursing homes are paid for by medicaid. Which is fine. and long term health care is a WHOLE other topic. But it shows that Alabamians are not progressive and not allowed to become progressive. Basically to get into a nursing home you have to get rid of everything you have because it cost 4,000 plus a month and no one without employment can afford that. ( or with employment for that matter) Other topics I read about nationwide are minimum wage. Alabama doesn't have a minimum wage, it choses to follow the federal requirement. I recently read other states were increasing their wage to 9 and 10 dollars and hour. Has Alabama addressed it?. The people who we have placed in power do not care about issues of the oridinary people of this state and county.
Basically, Alabama has went backwards in just the last few years. ( not sure how forward it ever was) The people in power are in no way connected to the daily lives of the people of this state. They live here, yet, when those elected have cars that cost more than homes, there is something wrong. When those in power live in exclusive neighborhoods, drive new hummers, or new BMW's, I mean you are not saying you are successful, you are saying you are seperate. That gas prices do not matter, that money is no object, I mean we don't have a hummer dealer in Marshall county, but we sure advertize for them well.
In the early 90's Alabama offered Mercedes to train the workers, clear and improve the site, upgrade utilities, and buy 2,500 Mercedes Benz vehicles.
A lot of this is off topic. however, everybit of it is politically oriented and created.

I can not say on this forum who to vote "FOR" but maybe I can say who I will "NOT" vote for. I have looked at all the candidates and I know their record of how they did their jobs. So, I will not vote for none of the incumbents and vote only for the last named on the ballot for that office.

These election cycle is going to be an interesting one. Not just because many Democrats are disguising themselves as Republicans but, because some did not prove themselves worthly to be re-elected. Reminds me of the "Abe" Lincoln saying, " You can fool all the people some of the time and you can fool some of the people all the time, but you can not fool all the people all the time."

This state has gone to Hades, and this proves it. We have 31 percent of people under the age of eighteen living at or below the poverty level just in Marshall County. Alabama is already ranked as the worst state in the U.S. to raise children due to the ratio; one of every forty five is homeless. But none of this is being brought up. Republicans love to sling their so-called bibles around, why haven’t these numbers been brought up? Where are your Bibles now?[sad]

Yes, the pattern I see with jumping ship to the other party appears to be that within their own party they lost all the votes. Mac Holcomb did the same thing didn't he? Wasn't he one of the first to change over and he actually one. It is simply a tactic to get the Job. He was just a warrant officer for Albertville. I mean. he drove around and served papers. The objective for many of these politicians is to make extra money for a job that requires little effort and has little supervision. In some cases the job requires little participation in the job itself. I don't see how you can run for an Office in a town or county you don't live and work in. For instance, if you are working in Huntsville or some other town, how can you be a mayor, or Board member? If you are actually spending any time at your Job in Madison county, Morgan, Dekalb, Jackson and so on, how could you possibly be aware of interest in your county or town? By hear say? How much time is left in the work schedule for someone in one county to work in Marshall county too? Doesn't make any sense. What does make sense is to collect Political titles for the bits and pieces of cash you can make with each. 500 bucks here, 1000 there, and so on, until you land the big one and can quit your real job.

I Didn't know that about Hawk. these guys hide behind years of stupid stuff that is long forgotten by most. Keep up the good work by remembering the details. If the history gets known then maybe he won't pop up someplace else.

When Howard Hawk was on Goat Hill, his first day there he tried to more than triple the amount of taxes the state levees on a pack of cigarettes.
If he would have been successful with that, bootlegged cigarettes from other states would have been more readily available on the street corner than in the corner store.
An easy target for kids, thus more smoking and less money in taxes for our state.
No doubt this guy is a loose cannon who shots from the hip.
He should have never been a judge or a legislator.

Simply get the word out about these guys. Doesn't have to be gossip or made up stories. Its a fact about Hawk. He rants about how Jefferson county has more judges and he is just one guy. He has went off talking about Fox News. His Judgements are one sentence with no definitiion or clarity. Obviously, little or no thought put into it.. He drifts off constantly and bullies lawyers, with mostly what appears to be the intent to just leave him alone. I mean the guy mostly just wants to be LEFT ALONE.
Yet, after all that. He asked for the job. Ran for it. Wanted it. Marshall county pays a whopping 140k year to this guy. His statements over the last few years have told the story.
Fox News doesn't know or care who he is. Jefferson county isn't his problem, and if he is overworked (for 140k) then quit. Don't just change parties. He was not disgusted with the democratic party and decided to change, he was just disgusted in general and should have resigned.

Circuit Judge Place 2 - incumbent Howard Hawk. This guy complains about his job, complains and rants about Fox News, stares at the ceiling and makes (from what I understand)140,000 a year to do it. Time to find another guy.

We have the "trump card" in our hand, they don't. So, let's not vote for anyone of these listed in this article. They are wolves in sheep clothing that can't make it under any party lines. If we vote for them, they will go sit over a cup of coffeee or a bottle of Jack Daniels and laugh at all of us for falling for their tricks.

I'm for term limits!! I don't desire to see the old commissioners return to office. I have been pleased with most of the decisions of the current county commission. I'm surprised they did not want to hold meetings at night when working families can attend. That may change in the future.
