Sardis City to get bomb-sniffing dog

Posted: Wednesday, October 3, 2012 3:20 pm

Sardis City Police will soon have a pretty special four-legged addition to their ranks.

Police Chief James Harp told councilmen Monday a reserve officer in training has volunteered to train with an explosives and weapon detecting dog at Fort McClellan in Anniston. The pair will graduate from their specialized training in November.

The previous comments are a great example of only reading the headline & not the article. It explains what they *would have had to pay* for the dog & training; the dog & officer will be an resource available to area law enforcement agencies; etc. I think it's a great use of FREE resources available to our local law enforcement agencies, especially in this day & time. If something happened in your community, would you REALLY want to delay their response because they had to call-in resources from somewhere further away?
