Editor's note: This story was corrected in the next to last graph to say Seay was taken into custody.

A Boaz man chose the wrong place to relieve himself last weekend.

According to Boaz Police Chief Terry Davis, Larry Dale Seay Jr., 34, of the 300 block of Leeth Gap Cutoff Road, Boaz, was seen urinating in the parking lot of Burke’s Outlet on U.S. 431 Saturday night. He was allegedly standing beside his vehicle, which was parked near a tree. He was facing a nearby church.

Seay’s activities were not hidden behind a tree or a vehicle at the time, Davis said, leaving the view open to drivers along U.S. 431.

Davis said when officers questioned him, Seay said he “just had to go” and that the parking lot “would be a quick place to do it.”

Seay was taken into custody and charged with public lewdness. According to Alabama Criminal Code, public lewdness is defined as exposing genitals in a public place with reckless disregard as to whether another person present may be offended or alarmed or in a place where he knows he is likely to be observed by others. Public lewdness is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by up to three months in jail.

He was booked into the Boaz City Jail and later released on bond.

Was this young man intoxicated? Was he high as they say....a kite?
I can see him being arrested for Public Intoxication if he was....but for what he did he should have been given a warning. I am sure the Police Officer who arrested him has done the same......whatever the reason it was senseless. I would like to advise the young man to start taking a glass or urinal with him in case he has health issues that cause this.
I just have to wonder if this person had been female what the outcome may have been?????

How about we focus on the meth addicts instead of a guy urinating outside at night??
