Posted: Friday, April 19, 2013 2:27 pm | Updated: 3:01 pm, Fri Apr 19, 2013.

The city of Boaz flew their flags at half-staff on April 8 to say goodbye to beloved community member and former police chief Calvin Sims.

Sims served as police chief in the late 1950s and early 60s. He died on April 7 at the age of 94 at Hospice of Marshall County – Shepherd’s Cove. However, his legacy and memory live on in the lives of many in Boaz, Sardis City and surrounding areas.
