The Marshall County Jail Ministry is asking for the public’s help to come up with the funds for the jail holiday meal on Christmas Eve.

“We are planning and preparing a nice hot meal for all staff and incarcerated mean and women in the county jail,” the ministry said in a statement. “We will be serving approximately 400 people with all the trimmings for Christmas dinner. The ministry also provides Bibles to all men and ladies upon request.”

Randy Smith said it’s an annual request for help to provide for a “very special” meal to be served to the men and women that are incarcerated in the Marshall County Jail; and also, to the entire staff of men and women who will help the sheriff maintain peace in the county and in the jail.

“The fixings of this Christmas meal always cost more than the normally budgeted meal,” Smith said. “And, while much of the food is being donated by several businesses and churches, there will be several other expenses that your past sharing has helped us pay for and provide for the inmates. Just one or two of those are glasses and new Bibles.”

Donations can be sent to: Marshall County Jail Ministries, 423 Blount Ave., Guntersville, AL 35976, Attn. L. Dianne Ewing.
