Snead State Community College will join local schools and six Marshall County manufacturing companies to participate in Manufacturing Day on Thursday, Oct. 25.

Newman Technology, HFI, Atrion Medical, Southern Metal Fab, Warren Distribution and Mueller will open their doors to area school groups for tours and to present an overview of their companies, including information on the production of their respective products.

More than 240 students from the area high schools will participate in the event this year. The goal is to connect the next generation to manufacturing jobs in their community, the careers available, and the skills needed to perform the jobs. The tours provide an open-door approach to the manufacturing environment that few students get the chance to see while in school.

Manufacturing Day gives industries the opportunity to address the skills gaps they face with workforce, to connect with future generations, to take charge of the public image of manufacturing and to ensure the ongoing prosperity of the industry as a whole. Manufacturing Day is produced annually by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) with key contributions and support from the Manufacturing Institute.
