Alzheimer’s Services of Marshall County recognized its teams from a Walk to Remember.

The organization was founded in 2006 and holds its Walk to Remember every September. But, last year, severe weather forced the cancellation of the event.

“Our walk teams still worked hard continued to raise money even though the walk was cancelled,” Alzheimer’s Services Board Chairman Tim Smith said. “Diversercare of Arab sponsored a banquet so we could honor our walk teams.”

Smith said Alzheimer’s Services’ mission is to support, information and education and referral services. The organization also works to educate the public and healthcare professionals on Alzheimer’s and dementia, advocates for improved public awareness and supports dementia research.

Smith said all of the money raised for Walk to Remember stays in Marshall County. He said Alzheimer’s Services uses the money to help provide respite care for famalies with a member suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia.
