An Albertville teacher accused of domestic violence against a minor turned in her resignation.
The Albertville Board of Education met briefly for a special meeting on Thursday to accept Brandy Taylor’s resignation. Her resignation will be effective June. 1.
According to Guntersville police reports, Taylor was charged with third-degree domestic violence — assault. On Dec. 15, 2017, she was placed on administrative leave by former Superintendent Ric Ayer.
Superintendent Boyd English said the incident did not happen on school property.
According to WAFF, Taylor was sentenced to 30-days in jail for assaulting a 12-year-old, but the court records have been sealed and The Reporter could not verify that news account.
Taylor has the option to request a new trial or appeal the decision from her previous trial.
Taylor also has a Feb. 15 court date for a domestic violence review hearing in Boaz Municipal Court for an incident that occurred in 2016. Taylor allegedly sprayed pepper spray in her ex-husband’s face in a dispute over a child at a Boaz baseball park.
