The Adopt-A-Mile sponsored by the Marshall County Democratic Club was cleaned up over the weekend.

Chair of the Marshall County Democratic Executive Committee and President of the Marshall County Democratic Club Susan McKenney said it was a record for the club’s litter cleanup efforts along its adopted mile yesterday. She said the Marshall County Democrats, Marshall County PALS (People Against a Littered State) and friends picked up 68 bags of trash and one tire at its event.

“Thank you to the almost 40 volunteers who participated, including a group of students from the Students for Earth Club of Guntersville High School and their sponsor,” McKenney said. “Special thanks to Marshall County PALS for joining us today as well and providing all the supplies.”

McKenney said in addition to cleaning up litter along the club’s designated Adopt-A-Mile, the volunteers also picked up debris along two miles of shoreline at Lake Guntersville.

She said the club’s next scheduled cleanup is June 22.
