By the recommendation of the executive board and the unanimous vote of the full board of directors, the Albertville Chamber of Commerce welcomes Stan Witherow as president of the Albertville Chamber of Commerce, effective Wednesday, Jan. 16.
“Our executive team has met many times over the last two months and interviewed several candidates for this position,” Jason Simpson, 2019 chairperson of the board, said. “With Stan’s extensive retail experience, his dedicated servant leadership style, his passion for the growth of the city of Albertville, and the love of this town he has called home for nearly 15 years, we are ecstatic to welcome him as our new chamber president.”
Witherow is a 25-year retail veteran who has served the last 13 years as the vice president district manager for Stage stores, parent company of Goody’s/Peebles. Prior to that, he served as a store manager for Belk Department Stores. For nine years early in his career, Witherow worked as a regional, visual merchandiser for Peebles Department Stores. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor of science in
communications. He was born and raised in Smyrna, Tennessee, and moved to Alabama in 1998. He and his wife of 18 years, Andrea, have three children: son Charlie, daughter Roxanne, and daughter Georgette (Gigi). Witherow already serves in the Marshall County community as a member of the Board of Directors for the Whole Backstage, as an active member of Guntersville First United Methodist Church and as a passionate volunteer and fill in innkeeper with Room in the Inn.
“The city of Albertville has always held a special place in my heart, and I am both humbled and honored to serve as the new chamber president,” Witherow said. “I look forward to helping our community soar to new heights in the coming years.”
Aiding Witherow in this goal will be Kathy Gore, who will continue to serve as the executive assistant of the chamber, and the 2019 Executive Board and Board of Directors.
“Kathy has done an incredible job keeping our Chamber office open and very active during the absence of a President,” said Beth Ann Parnell, 2019 vice chair of planning and development. “We could not have asked for a better Executive Assistant and partner to help us as an Executive Board and Board of Directors. As a Board, we look forward to continuing to support Stan and Kathy and serve as a voice and champion for the City of Albertville during this exciting time of growth and in the years to come.”
Joining the President and Executive Assistant in leading the Chamber is the 2019 Board of Directors: Jason Simpson, chairperson; Beth Ann Parnell, vice chair of planning and development; Don McDaniel, vice chair of membership and finance; Thomas Carroll, immediate past chairperson; Tim Bearden, Brad Biddle, Dr. Boyd English, Chris Johnson, Austin Kennedy, Michael Marsh, Samantha May, Jay Mitchell, Kim Patterson, Kim Pollard, Brittany Riddle and Jeff Thomas.
