UPDATE: As of 4:20 p.m., the road is back open and the scene is clear.

On Friday, Nov. 1, a semi-truck collided with a moving train in Boaz.

At approximately 2:09, an 18-wheeler failed yield to a speeding train and was hit, separating the trailer from the vehicle.

The truck, which belongs to Express Run, LLC, was driven by a man from Michigan, according to Boaz Police Chief Josh Gaskin.

The crash occurred on the railroad tracks at the intersection of Alabama Highway 205 and Bel-Air Street. The driver was not injured.

He was issued a citation and released from the scene, Gaskin said. Railroad crews are still at the scene along with the Boaz police and fire departments.

The roadway surrounding the accident is expected to be blocked for an undetermined amount of time, Gaskin said.
