GERALDINE — The Town of Geraldine is inviting local groups and organizations to participate in it its annual Christmas parade Saturday, Dec. 7, beginning at 2 p.m.

Everything from floats, marching bands, clubs, decorated vehicles, antique cars and trucks to equestrian units, civic groups, churches, sports teams are welcome to partake in the event.

Prize money will be awarded to the first, second and third best decorated float.

The parade’s route will be just over one mile, beginning at The Frothy Dog Coffee Company on Alabama Highway 75. From there, the parade will move northeast down the highway, turn right onto Alabama Highway 227 and end at Geraldine High School.

This year’s grand marshal will be Seth Maddox, World Champion Microsoft Office Specialist winner. He is a 2019 graduate of Geraldine High School and student at Auburn University. Maddox will be joined by Rubye Turner, who was chosen as last year’s grand marshal. The 2018 Christmas parade was cancelled due to bad weather, so Turner will get her chance to ride in the parade this year, Mayor Chuck Ables said.
