The Douglas varsity boys basketball team whipped Madison County 67-45 on Nov. 25 in the seventh annual FNB Thanksgiving Tournament at Scottsboro.
The Eagles led 21-8, 43-26 and 54-38 at the quarter breaks.
Douglas made five 3-pointers in the first quarter, three of them by Daniel DeArmas, to build their double-digit advantage.
DeArmas finished with five 3s and a game-best 24 points.
Raygan Edmondson scored 13 and Eli Teal 11. Dylan Sanders contributed eight, Jansen Rogers seven and Yael Lucas and Brady Ragon both two.
Douglas hit 10 treys in the contest, including three by Teal.
Tuesday night, the Eagles tipped off their Class 5A, Area 13 schedule by beating Crossville 70-59 at Loyd Berry Gymnasium.
Douglas controlled leads of 20-7, 45-37 and 58-46 at the rest stops.
DeArmas scored 16 and Teal 10 in the first half to propel the Eagles to their advantage.
For the game, four Eagles reached double figures. DeArmas led the way with 22, followed by Teal with 13, Rogers with 12 and Sanders with 11.
Lucas tossed in six, Edmondson four and Ragon two.
Crossville’s Blake Bouldin poured in a game-high 31 points.
Tyler Cox and Colton Davis scored eight each, Landin Cox six, Quentin Chapman four and Hunter Haston two.
DHS travels to Area 13 rival Sardis on Dec. 13.
