GUNTERSVILLE – For the second year Guntersville Lake HydroFest has received the Site of the Year Award at the H1 Unlimited annual awards banquet.
The awards banquet, held at Angels of the Winds Casino in Arlington, Washington, on Saturday, Nov. 16, served as the culmination of the year’s racing season with more than 100 people in attendance.
The Site of the Year Award recognizes the best race site on the circuit for H1 Unlimited. Race drivers, crew chiefs and team owners vote on the award and this is the second year that Guntersville Lake HydroFest has received top honors for its race weekend.
“We were honored to have been selected from among so many well-planned and well-managed events such as Seafair in Seattle and Bayfair in San Diego,” said Katy Norton, president of the Marshall County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“HydroFest reflects the hard work of an entire community, and this award is truly for all the sponsors who financially support it, the planning committee whose behind-the-scenes strategizing helps insure a well-run weekend for fans, and for all the 200 plus volunteers who have sweat equity in HydroFest,” she continued. “Congratulations to all of these individuals for a job well done.”
Norton, along with her husband David, who manages the pit area, Guntersville Mayor Leigh Dollar and HydroFest 2020 Chairman Kenny Shifflett were present to receive the award.
Guntersville Lake HydroFest will host its third year of racing June 27-28, 2020. Tickets for next year’s race will go on sale in February.
