After months of delay, Drum Creek Bridge on Alabama Highway 205 in Albertville is currently scheduled to reopen around the middle of August.

Seth Burkett, north region public information officer for the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), said if weather permitted, contractors would begin the paving process Tuesday, July 30.

Bridge Builders of Alabama is the company completing the $2 million project to replace the near 100-year-old bridge. Construction first began May 7, 2018, and it was supposed to be complete in the spring of 2019.

Burkett said delay was attributed to inclement weather and issues with subcontractors.
