A single-vehicle crash near Gadsden claimed the life of a Crossville woman Monday afternoon.

Brittney Michelle Cantrell, 19, was killed when the vehicle she was driving left the roadway on U.S. Highway 431 and overturned, according to Alabama Senior Trooper Chuck Daniel. The crash occurred two miles west of Gadsden around 5:20 p.m.

Daniel said Cantrell was not wearing a seatbelt.

Once first responders arrived, they transported her to UAB Hospital where she later died.

ALEA State Troopers are still investigating the accident.
