Helen Maddux Burton


Helen Maddux Burton, 80, of Altoona, formerly of Sardis, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019.

Her funeral service will be today, Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. at Etowah Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Marshall Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. before the service. Rev. Jeff Bennett, Rev. Rick Luman and Rev. Ryan Bristow will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Zach Stanford, B.J. Maddux, Eric Lowery, Timmy Joe Maddux, Jeremy Burton and Steve Burton. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Burton and Denny Burton.

Helen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend that touched the lives of all that knew her. She was a fun loving person to be around and never met a stranger. She was a prayer warrior to everyone.

Mrs. Burton was survived by her husband, Dennis R. Burton; children, Tim (Sheila) Maddux, Barry (Cheryl) Maddux, Scotty (Kristie) Maddux; grandchildren, B.J. (Erica) Maddux, Yantci (Eric) Lowery, Timmy Joe Maddux, Amanda (Zach) Stanford; great-grandchildren, Jai Patton Lowery, Drayton Leigh Lowery, Abel Nolan Maddux, Ava Jo Stanford; special niece, Sheila Whitten; host of other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by, her first husband, Mabrey Joe Maddux; parents, Nolan and Bertha Wright; sister, Shirley Nadean Sykes; brother, Bobby Wright; sister-in-law, Barbara Wright.

Etowah Memorial Chapel is directing.

Rickey Miller


Rickey Miller, 57, of Boaz, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019 at Grandview Medical Center.

His funeral service was Thursday, Aug. 15, at Albertville Memorial Chapel. Burial followed in Forrest Home Cemetery. Rev. Chris Watkins, Rev. Mike Johnson and Rev. Chris Cornutt officiated the service. Pallbearers were Jimmy Cornutt, Rickey Cornutt, Kenny Brown, David Ellis, Jimmy Miller and Larry Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Annette Miller; children, Scotty Miller and Leslie Jenkins; grandchildren, Coburn, Myles and Ruby Jean Miller; mother, Louise Miller; sister, Tanina Moone; brother, Rodney Miller; nieces, Chelsey Moone and Ashley Qualls; half brother, Gerry Lee Sanders (Rhonda).

He is preceded in death by his father, James Frank Miller and brother, Randy Miller.

Dwight McClendon


Dwight McClendon, 74, of Albertville, passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2019.

His funeral services were Monday, Aug. 19, at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. Bro. Nick Davis and Bro. Chris Andrews officiated. Burial followed in Mount High at Asbury.

Mr. McClendon is survived by his wife, Patsy McClendon; daughter, Nancy Rogers (Morton); son, Jeff McClendon (Alisha); four grandchildren; mother, Hildreth McClendon; sister, Glenda Cadena; brother, Tony McClendon.

Fred Taylor


Fred Taylor, 92, of Albertville, passed away Monday, Aug. 12 2019.

His funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 18, at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. Burial followed in Memory Hill. Bro. Willis Kelly and Bro.Chris Johnston officiated.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Doylene Taylor; daughers, Alice Burns, Ann Taylor; son, Dan Taylor (Jean); seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

Martha Nell Isom


Martha Nell Isom, 82, of Crossville, passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2019.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 19, at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. Bro. Paul Jones officiated. Burial followed in New Canaan.

Survivors include sisters, Joyce Cooper Miller, Glynda Cooper Rice (Clyde); four grandchildren.

Terry Ray Vaughn


Terry Ray Vaughn, 68, of Albertville, passed away Saturday, Aug, 17, 2019.

His funeral service was Sunday, Aug. 18, at Corinth Baptist Church with burial that followed in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Jim Barkley and Rev. Brock McCullars officiated.

Vaughn is survived by his wife, Kathy Vaughn; sons, Chris Vaughn, Corey Vaughn (Stacey), Cody Vaughn (Codie), three grandchildren; brothers, Roy Vaughn (Judy), Coy Vaughn (Debra), Randy Vaughn, Phillip Vaughn (Phyllis), Stacy Vaughn (Diane).
