At the ground breaking ceremony for the city’s new recreation center Thursday morning, Boaz City Councilman Johnny Willis expressed his vision for continuing to move the community forward.

While it’s been a big project, Willis said it would not be the last project in Boaz.

It isn’t clear what the city’s next project will be, but residents do have a say in the matter. The city will host a Planning Workshop to discuss the community’s future Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Boaz High School Auditorium.

The meeting is part of the city’s plan to gather information from citizens for a new comprehensive plan expected to guide growth and improvement within the community for the next 20 years.

Input is desired from residents of all ages and backgrounds. The city will also be releasing a Community Preferences Survey to help understand expectations for growth and revitalization in Boaz.

For more information about the meeting, contact Boaz City Hall at 256-593-8105.
