The City of Albertville will soon to be home to a Firehouse Subs and Dunkin’ Donuts (DD) with a Baskin-Robbins located inside thanks to developer Don Spurlin.

Spurlin, who is owner of Spurlin and Company and Don Spurlin Construction, said he wanted to bring new businesses to his hometown of Albertville. Being in commercial real estate and development, he said having his companies under one roof in Albertville makes his office a “one-stop shop” and “a little more competitive” than other companies trying for the development project. He said the lot, which is located at the intersection of Rose Road and U.S. Highway 431, is being developed in to a new shopping center.

As of Tuesday, Feb. 4, Spurlin said a Firehouse Subs and a DD, which will have a Baskin-Robbins inside it, were the only businesses confirmed. But currently, he said there are other businesses he’s negotiating with.

“I’m thrilled to be bringing businesses into Albertville,” Spurlin said. “This is happening because of the current mayor and city council bringing business to Albertville, and it’s pretty much a direct result of the new Sand Mountain Park. So, I’m really excited about that.”

According to Spurlin, the shopping center would be a 11,600, square-foot property that could house additional businesses.

“Dunkin’ and Firehouse are taking up 3,800 square-feet, so it’s got a good bit of space left,” Spurlin said. “And, we can configure to smaller tenants or one larger tenant, or we can divide it any way it needs to be done.”

Mayor Tracy Honea and Economic Development Director Mike Price agree the Spurlin development is one more positive step for the City of Albertville.

“This will be a great development for Albertville and the surrounding area,” Honea said. “We are really excited to have Dunkin’ and Firehouse Subs locate in our city and know they will be a huge hit with our citizens. The city and different developers have worked on this development over the years and we are really pleased that Don was able to make it happen.”

“The Dunkin’ and Firehouse Subs brands are new to Marshall County and it is really a big deal anytime you can introduce new dining and retail offerings to the market,” Price said. “This development will serve the City of Albertville extremely well and is perfectly positioned for the daily customer as well as visitors to Sand Mountain Park & Amphitheater. Don has spent a lot of time and energy on this, and he has done a great job putting the development together.”
