Karen “Memaw” Johnson


Karen “Memaw” Johnson, 64, of Douglas, died Oct. 11, 2019.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 13, at the McRae Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Matt Jordan officiating. Burial followed in the Douglas Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Johnson, of Douglas; son, Daniel (Sri) Johnson, of Birmingham; daughters and sons-in-law, Grace and Brian Butler, Jennifer and Scott Centers, all of Douglas; nine grandchildren; mother, Lorene Williams, of Boaz; brother, Roger Williams, of Huntsville; and sister and brother-in-law, Janice & Doug Rhoades.

Matthew Wright Luther


Matthew Wright Luther, 46, of Oxford, passed Friday, Oct. 11, 2019.

Graveside services will be held, Saturday, Oct. 19, at Memory Hill Cemetery in Albertville. Rev. Ricky Smith will officiate.

Survivors are daughter, Sara Beth Luther; son, Zan Luther; parents, Lynn and Joanne Luther; sisters, Melanie Nichols, Marie Phelps and Martha Echols; and brother, Mark Luther.

Arrangements entrusted to Adams Brown Service Funeral Home.

Paul Shirley Ogle


Paul Shirley Ogle, 82, of Boaz, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2019.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 14, at Albertville Funeral Home Downtown Chapel with burial following in Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Carey Sims, Gene Lambert and Bob Hundley officiated.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Nell Vandergriff Ogle; daughters, Misty Reagan (John), Sara Duke (Greg), Patsy Odom (Tim) and Suzette Corbin (James); sons, Gary Ashley (Janice) and Randy Ashley; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Albertville Funeral Home Downtown assisted the family with arrangements.

Vernelle Stanfield


Vernelle Stanfield, 94, of Boaz, passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019.

Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Albertville Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Forrest Home Cemetery. Rev. Don Self and Rev. Wayne Roden will officiate.

She is survived by her son, Robert Brown (Martha); eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Sue Jordan.

Albertville Memorial Chapel is directing.
