RAINSVILLE — Class 2A, No. 5 Fyffe improved to 19-2 on the season by routing Ider 74-40 on Monday night in the varsity boys quarterfinals of the DeKalb County Tournament at DeKalb County Schools Coliseum.

Tate Goolesby and Parker Godwin paced the Red Devils with 11 points each. Brody Dalton tossed in 10, Hunter Gillilan nine and Gabe Gardner eight.

The Red Devils meet Sylvania in the semifinals Friday night at 7:30. The winner advances to battle defending champion Plainview or Collinsville in the finals Saturday night at 8:15.

In the other varsity boys quarterfinal matchups, Plainview trounced Valley Head 85-28, Collinsville beat Geraldine 64-49 and Sylvania upended Crossville 77-66.

VARSITY GIRLS

Fyffe 71, Valley Head 15: The 2A, No. 8 Red Devils (16-4) trampled the Tigers in Monday’s DeKalb County Tournament quarterfinal matchup.

Fyffe owned leads of 22-7, 42-10 and 58-13 at the quarter breaks. Fourteen Red Devils saw action in the contest.

Fyffe’s Marie Woodall single-handedly outscored Valley Head, as she finished with 24 points. Gracie Hicks scored nine and both Alexia Barber and Emma Twilley seven.

Hicks collected five rebounds and four assists. Madison Myers made five assists while Marie Woodall got five steals.

Kallie Ingram’s 10 points topped Valley Head.

Fyffe plays 2A, No. 7 Ider in the semifinals Thursday night at 8. The winner advances to the finals against Collinsville or Sylvania on Saturday night at 6:30.

The Red Devils and Ider are 2A, Area 15 opponents. Ider edged Fyffe 62-60 in the rivals’ only meeting of the regular season. They play Jan. 21 at Fyffe.

In the other varsity girls quarterfinals games, Ider stopped Geraldine 64-53, Sylvania edged Plainview 63-58 and Collinsville whipped Crossville 75-36.
