Joyce I. Snell

Joyce I. Snell of Boaz, formerly of Carlisle, PA, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, after a brief stay at Coosa Valley Health Care in Glencoe, AL.

Born on Nov. 5, 1926, in Mt. Holly Springs, PA, Joyce was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Elizabeth Sheaffer and was a graduate of Carlisle High School in Carlisle, PA. She retired as a QC Inspector from McCoy Electronics in Mt. Holly Springs, PA.

Joyce was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carlisle, PA and participated for several years in the peanut butter egg-making ministry. Once she moved to Boaz in 2017, she attended Calvary Baptist Church and New Union FCM Church. She enjoyed going to the Boaz Senior Center before her illness.

Hardly ever at home, Joyce enjoyed traveling, visiting nursing home residents and especially going to see her grandchildren, amusement park rides, roller skating, line dancing, and was a huge fan of Elvis Presley. Besides traveling out west for several weeks, she also went to Nova Scotia, Washington State, Canada, and to St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands.

Joyce was preceded in death by her half-brother Reginald Richwine of PA, her daughter Jessica (Fink) Proctor of AZ, and her great-grandson Stephen G. Sigley of FL.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn (Fink) and husband Lynn of Boaz; a grandson, Matthew and wife Tiffany of Memphis, TN; a granddaughter, Amanda and husband Stephen Sigley of Ma-deira Beach, FL; 4 great-grandchildren, Katie and Wyatt Gillian of Overland Park, KS; Olivia and Will Sigley of Madeira Beach, FL; a nephew Reginald Richwine of Nicholasville, KY; and several cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held in PA at the convenience of the family. Morgan Funeral Home of Attalla, Cremation Society of PA, and Hollinger Funeral Home in Mt. Holly Springs, PA are handling all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St Paul Lutheran Church peanut butter egg ministry, Mt. Holly Springs, PA Golden Age Club, or the Ladies Auxiliary of New Union FCM Church.

Betty Fay Turner


Betty Fay Turner, 83, of Albertville, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2019.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 30 at Albertville Funeral Home Downtown with burial following in DeKalb Memorial Cemetery. Terry Cisco officiated.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Dobbs; brother, Anthony Morgan; sister-in-law, Hazel Gerlitz.

Albertville Funeral Home Downtown is assisting the family with arrangements.

Barbara Ann Phillips Hulgan


Barbara Ann Phillips Hulgan, 93, of Boaz, passed away Dec 27, 2019.

A family graveside service was held Monday, Dec. 30, at Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. Lula Dobbs officiating.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Janice Hulgan of Guntersville; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen Roberts of Texas, Julia Bradley of Mobile.

Teresa Ann Musick Hibbs

Rainbow City

Teresa Ann Musick Hibbs, 64, of Rainbow City, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019.

Survivors are Roger Hibbs, Joshua Randall (Crystal) Hibbs, Jacob Michael Hibbs; sister, Lucretia Musick (Jay) Price, five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday Dec. 29th, at Whitesboro Baptist Church with interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Alan Hallmark, Rev. Whitt Hibbs, Cindy Greer officiated.

Wanda Tolleson


Wanda Tolleson, 91, of Boaz, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2019.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec 30, at Etowah Memorial Chapel with burial following at Happy Hill Cemetery. Rev. Donny Lanier officiated.

Mrs. Tolleson is survived by her son, Randy Tolleson (Cindy); daughter-in-law, Rebecca Tolleson; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren.
