James R. Croghan


James R. Croghan, 74, of Boaz, died Aug. 14, 2019, at Marshall Medical Center South.

A memorial service will be Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m. at the St. James Catholic Church, Gadsden. Father Jose Chako will be officiating.

Mr. Croghan was born in Nebraska on July 25, 1945, to James and Mae Rucksdashel Croghan. He was a retired educator.

He is survived by his wife, Helen M. Croghan, of Boaz; sons and daughters-in-law, John Croghan of Mississippi and Michael & Gerri Croghan, of Albertville; daughter & son-in-law, Erin & Brad Huffman, of Boaz; grandchildren, Kirsten & Colton Hunkeapillar, Jacob Croghan, Spencer & Salina Croghan, Caden Huffman, Gavin Huffman, Colby Croghan and Trent Croghan; and great-grandsons, Peyton Hunkeapillarn and Cooper Hunkeapillar. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Mae Croghan.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association.

Harlan Ford

Decatur (formerly of the Egypt Community)

Mr. Harlan Ford, 78, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Aug. 14, 2019.

Harlan was born June 22, 1941, in Gadsden, Alabama, to J.C. and Rachel Ford. He was retired from Modern Heating and Cooling. He was also a founding member of the Egypt Volunteer Fire Department, where he served faithfully for 36 years.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Norma Aylene (Farr) Ford; daughter, Kellie Terry (Scotty); son, Chris (Jeni); two grandchildren, Janelle and Joseph; and one brother, Leon Ford (Marie).

Graveside services were held Friday, Aug. 16, at Gunter Mountain Memorial Gardens in Swearengin.

Pallbearers were members of the Egypt Volunteer Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request that donations be made to the Egypt Volunteer Fire Department at 560 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Altoona, AL 35952.

The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the members of the Egypt Volunteer Fire Department and members of the Egypt Community.

Mary Lou Claburn


Mary Lou Claburn, 77, of Boaz, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019.

There will be a graveside service today, Saturday, Aug. 17, at 4 p.m.

Claburn is survived by her sister, Sharon Lane; and brother, Dennis Rewoldt.

Boaz Carr Funeral Home is directing.

James C. Maloney

James C. Maloney, 74, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019.

He is survived by a daughter, Samantha Eneriko; three grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters. There will be a memorial service at a later date.

Betty Faye Cagle


A graveside service was held Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at Marshall Memorial Gardens for Betty Faye Cagle, 65, of Albertville. She is survived by a brother.

Guntersville Memorial is assisting the family with arrangements.
