PISGAH — Kadin Bennefield rushed for 240 yards and two touchdowns to lead Boaz to a 38-8 win over Pisgah on Friday night.
Boaz (2-3) scored on its first possession of the game, driving 80 yards using 10 plays. On fourth-and-goal from the 3-yard line, quarterback Easton Hardin threw a strike to Carson Chamblee in the end zone for the touchdown.
Gerardo Baeza added the point-after with 9:18 left in the first quarter.
Early in the second quarter, Boaz began a drive from its 1 after a Pisgah punt. Ten plays later, the drive was capped by a touchdown, this one on a 45-yard run by Bennefield with 8:43 left in the half. Baeza again added the PAT to push the lead to 14-0.
After two 10-play scoring drives, the Pirates’ next one was only two plays to increase their lead to 21-0.
A 75-yard run by Bennefield set up an Eli Jacobs’ 10-yard TD run at the 3:45 mark of the second period. Baeza was again good on the point-after.
Boaz added another touchdown before halftime.
Pisgah fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and Alex Tarvin recovered for Boaz. It took only five plays to go the 28 yards needed, and Zion Dunn scored the touchdown on a 1-yard plunge. Baeza’s PAT made it 28-0 at the half.
Boaz took the second-half kickoff and needed only two plays and 54 seconds to score, as Bennefield scored on a 41-yard run. Baeza’s extra point made it 35-0.
Pisgah’s only touchdown came on a Nate Cornelison 5-yard run with 9:18 left in the game. It capped a seven-play, 37-yard drive. Parker Law passed to Kolton Chadwick for the two-point conversation.
Baeza completed the scoring with a 32-yard field goal with 4:05 left in the game.
Boaz travels to Albertville on Sept. 27 for the Backyard Brawl against the Aggies. Pisgah (2-2) plays at rival Section on Sept. 27.
