Mickey “The Hammer” Henry, owner and promoter of 431 Sports Arena in Boaz, said his annual Independence Day celebration is one of his favorite events at the arena.
“We’ve been doing this show and shooting fireworks for over 30 years,” Henry said.
The arena’s tradition continues Saturday night. It features a pro wrestling card packed with fan favorites, followed by the free fireworks show.
“Come and celebrate Independence Day weekend with us,” Henry said. “This is fun for the whole family. I don’t allow any vulgarity. Kids can also play in the ring before the show.”
WWE, ECW and NWA television star Johnny Swinger will wrestle for an NWA world title vs. Christian Pierce, who is known as “The Bun.”
Midget star Little Papa Pump, whose name is David Harden, returns to the arena for a match Saturday. Henry said Harden has been wrestling at a venue in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
Saturday is also Hall of Fame night, featuring the tag team and wrestler of the year from 2018 and 2019, plus the wrestler of the decade from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.
