The mystery of the empty Kmart is still circling all around Albertville. The city bought the building almost a year ago, and still no one knows what it’s going to become.

Rumors of turning it into a Target or a movie theater are being thrown around, but nothing has been officially confirmed.

When asked about it, most city officials just shrug their shoulders and say they don’t know anything. They just say they’re as much in the dark as we are.

Passing it every day makes the mystery grow. Cars pull in and out of the parking lot on a daily basis. Police officers patrol it at night and seem to hang around on a regular basis. Most likely to keep the kids from hanging around at different times of night.

The longer the wait continues, the more people’s curiosity and excitement seem to grow. People are drooling to know what’s going to become of the abandoned building.

Personally, being the food connoisseur that I am, I would love for the development to bring a new restaurant. It doesn’t have to be too fancy, just another restaurant to add to what we already have.

Quite honestly, if it brought a Chipotle Mexican Grill, all my dreams would come true. But, I have a feeling this is a lofty dream.

Still, even if it doesn’t bring a restaurant, I’d like to jump on the bandwagon for it becoming a movie theater. Albertville doesn’t have its own movie theater, with the closest being in Boaz. But a nice movie theater, like the one in Gadsden, wouldn’t look bad at all. It’d be an extra place to go on date night.

With all these ideas being cooked up in people’s minds, I think we can all agree that no matter what it becomes, nothing will satisfy the buzz that everyone’s created about this mysterious city project.
