A man was killed during an officer-involved shooting just outside the Albertville city limits early Monday morning at Lazy Creek Circle near Alabama Highway 75.

According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Steve Guthrie, Boaz police responded to a domestic violence call, but the suspect had fled the scene when they arrived. Law enforcement throughout the county began searching for the suspect, which led them to Lazy Creek Trailer Park.

“When the officers went to the area, an incident took place and the suspect was shot, and he is now deceased,” Guthrie said.

The suspect was not identified.

Multiple agencies were involved with the shooting, including the Boaz, Albertville and Douglas police departments and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. The State Bureau of Investigation was also on scene.

No law enforcement officers were injured.

As of 9:30 a.m. Monday, Guthrie said the SBI had taken over the investigation.

In a statement made Monday afternoon, the SBI said the investigation is still ongoing and all findings will be turned over to the Marshall County District Attorney’s Office.
