A 22-year-old was shot and killed Sunday morning after an altercation in Albertville, according to Albertville Police Chief Jamie Smith.
Detectives with the Albertville Police Department are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday morning around 2:39 a.m. at a residence on Taylor Street. Smith said the shooting stemmed from an altercation between two males that were at the residence. As a result of the shooting, Clint Oneal Bailey, of Albertville, has died from a gunshot wound, Smith said.
Michael Boraski Barnes, 22, of Arab, was taken into custody as a person of interest later that morning, Smith said. He was being held in the Albertville City Jail with warrants for murder expected to be received Monday afternoon, Smith said. A bond will be set when the warrant is issued, and he will then be transferred to the Marshall County Jail, Smith said.
At this time the motive for the shooting is still not clear as detectives are still investigating and attempting to locate and interview potential witnesses to the incident.
Detectives are currently working to gather evidence and trying to determine the cause of the altercation, which led to the fatal shooting.
The body was turned over to the Marshall County Coroner’s Office on Sunday, Smith said. The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences will perform an autopsy.
