ASBURY — Gaylesville spoiled the Asbury football team’s 2019 home opener by rolling to a 46-6 triumph over the Rams on Aug. 30.

Gaylesville’s new head coach is former Douglas head coach Brian Knapp, who spent the 2018 season as an Asbury assistant coach.

Asbury finished with 223 yards total offense. Quarterback Austin Bloodworth scored the Rams’ only touchdown on a 56-yard run.

Bloodworth finished 3-of-13 passing for 53 yards. He rushed 14 times for 60 yards and also contributed three tackles on defense.

Dante Broussard had 13 carries for 70 yards. He recorded six tackles.

Dakota Templeton ran twice for 14 yards and caught one pass for 39 yards. He paced the Rams with 10 tackles.

McKinley Orr collected nine tackles, and Caleb Stanley and Jacob Gareri had six each. Skylor Justice, Josh Gorriz, Gavin Johnson and Jeb Powell all had five tackles.

Gaylesville’s DJ Lee rushed 31 times for 308 yards and five touchdowns to power his team to victory.

The game was a penalty-fest, as the Rams and Trojans combined for 36 flags.

Gaylesville team has started this football season with a great victory over the Asbury team. I love to visit for writing skills. It is pretty apparent that Brian Knapp has coached his team Gaylesville pretty well. I hope to see such great performance in future too.
