Bonnie Harper, 85, of Crossville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020.

His funeral service was held Thursday, Jan. 9, at Crossville Memorial Chapel. Interment followed in Lathamville Cemetery. Rev. Charles Adkins officiated.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Harper; daughter, Tonya Harper; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; brother, Jerome Harper (Frankie).

Crossville Memorial Chapel directed.

Gregory Wayne Higginbotham


Gregory Wayne Higginbotham, 65, of Georgia, formerly of Boaz, passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020.

His funeral service will be 11 a.m. today, Saturday, Jan. 11, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burial to follow in the adjoining Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 until 11 a.m. before the service at the church.

Mr. Higginbotham was survived by two aunts and seven cousins.

Etowah Memorial Chapel is directing.

W. Merle Hames

Sardis City

W. Merle Hames, 89, of Sardis City, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020 at her home.

Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, at Etowah Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 until 2 p.m. before the service at the funeral home. Rev. Jerry Manasco will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Joshua Hames, Jessie Tiner, Lee May, Jason May, Earl Hames, Geda Hames.

Special Thanks to Shepherds Cove Hospice and her nurse Jolene and aide Brenda. Also, thanks to everyone for thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. Hames is survived by her children, Claude Hames Jr. (Cindy), Clare Hames; grandchildren: Josh Hames (Tiffany); great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Lucas Hames; step-grandchildren, Wes (Ashley), Will and Dana Hopkins; brother, Gerald Ogburn; special chosen daughter, Jane Hall; chosen grandchildren, Nicole Evers (Kurt), Camoren Hall (Whittney); chosen great-grandchildren, Bailey and Hunter Evers, Grayson and Owen Hall; a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Hames Sr.; sister, Frances Wegener; brother, Charles Ogburn; parents, Ocie and Emmie Ogburn.

Etowah Memorial Chapel is directing.
