ASBURY — Cedar Bluff capitalized on four nonoffensive touchdowns to hand Asbury a 49-6 setback Friday night in a Class 2A, Region 8 game at Asbury Stadium.
The Rams’ record fell to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in Region 8 play. Asbury travels to region rival North Sand Mountain of Higdon on Friday.
One of Cedar Bluff’s scores came on a blocked punt it recovered in the end zone. The Tigers’ defense limited the Rams to 65 yards total offense.
Skylor Justice scored Asbury’s touchdown on a 43-yard fumble return. He rushed twice for 18 yards and made two tackles.
Austin Bloodworth completed 4-of-5 passes for 41 yards.
Dante Broussard gained 14 yards on eight rushing attempts and returned five kickoffs for 33 yards.
Mateo Pascual, an eighth grader, returned three kickoffs for 50 yards. He also had two tackles late in the game.
McKinley Orr switched jerseys from 55 to 86 and played receiver and defensive end for the Rams. He led them with four tackles.
