Fred Buchanan, 91, of Boaz, Alabama died Aug. 18, 2019 at his residence. Mr. Buchanan was born on Jan. 15, 1928, to D.C. & Burle Ann Buchanan in Elora, Tennessee. He and his wife are long time members of the First Baptist Church of Boaz. He worked as a rehabilitation counselor for the State of Alabama before retirement.

Funeral service will be today, Thursday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. at the McRae Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Aaron Johnson and Bro. Jonathan Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in the Marshall Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends today from 12:30-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Bettye Buchanan; daughter & son-in-law, Ruth Ellen & Rick Thompson; grandchildren, James Rickard & Emily Thompson, Jr., and Andrew & Allison Thompson; and sisters, Ila Walls and Margaret Starnes. He is preceded in death by his parents, D.C. Buchanan & Burle Ann Buchanan; sister, Calla Mae Buchanan Reiker; nephew Steven Morrow.

Pallbearers will be James Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Joe Reiker, Jeff Wolford, Jake Wolford, Greg Copeland, Miles Copeland, and Parker Smith.

The family would like to thank caregivers Magan Childress, Connie Snead, and Marilynn Thomas. They would also like to thank the special caregivers from Kindred Hospice.

The family request in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Boaz - Building Fund or Kindred Hospice.

Oliver Glenn Wilson, 93, of Helena, Alabama, formerly of Boaz, passed away on Aug. 18, 2019.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Bolton Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Bruce officiating. Burial followed at Douglas Cemetery. Bolton Funeral Home directed.

Mr. Wilson was born in Blountsville, Alabama on Sept. 12, 1925, to Charles Edward and Charlsie Ola (Carroll) Wilson. He was a dedicated husband, father, and Southern Baptist Minister.

Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth N. Wilson; parents, seven brothers, and three sisters. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws, Ann and Ken Brown, Pat and Bob Franklin, and Barbara and Rod Rich; grandchildren, Jon and Misty Brown, Jennifer Brown, Ashley and Marty Tilley, Josh and Brandi Franklin, and Meredith and Brandon Greer; great-grandchildren, Remy Brown, Keelin Brown, Lexington Tilley, Stricklynn Tilley, Kelci DeSena, Addison Franklin, Bella Holiday, Cooper Greer, Avery Greer, Ella Greer; and great-great grandson: Louie DeSena.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your charity of choice.

Jerri Sue Holderfield, 64, of Rainbow City, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019.

Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Etowah Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden. Rev. Jeff Holderfield and Rev. Jamie Perigo will be officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today, Thursday, Aug. 22, at the funeral home.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Holderfield; son: Jeff Holderfield (Patsy); three grandchildren; brothers, Mickey Braswell, Larry Braswell; sister, Renee Smith.

Etowah Memorial Chapel is directing.

Verlon C. Baldwin, 92, of Austell, Georgia, passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2019.

Funeral services are Saturday, Aug. 24, at noon at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Marshall Memorial Gardens.

Baldwin is survived by his wife, Faye Baldwin; daughter, Tersa Baldwin Wood; son, Larry Baldwin; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

McCartney is survived by her husband, Frank McCartney; sons, Robert Lee Daniel (Kim), Bryan Daniel (Kristi); five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Sandy Barnes (Phillip), Joyce Farrell (Shean); brothers, Larry Ford, Tommy Ford (Rhonda), John Ford.
